One-way Bearing

One-way bearings are a type of bearing that can rotate freely in one direction but is locked in the other direction. One-way bearings are also called overrunning clutches, but they are named according to different industries and functions. The metal shell of a one-way bearing contains many rollers, needles or balls, and the shape of its rolling seat (hole) makes it only able to roll in one direction, and will generate great resistance in the other direction (the so-called "one-way").

Classification of one-way bearings

Classification by structure:

(1) Wedge-type one-way bearing: uses the friction between the wedge and the inner and outer rings to transmit torque, suitable for higher speeds and larger loads.

(2) Roller-type one-way bearing: relies on rollers to roll between the inner and outer rings to transmit torque, suitable for lower speeds and medium loads.

(3) Spring-type one-way bearing: uses spring leaves to generate prestress to make the inner and outer rings tightly connected, suitable for low speeds and small loads.

Classification by use:

(1) General one-way bearing: Suitable for power transmission and control in general mechanical transmission systems.

(2) Special one-way bearings: One-way bearings designed for specific mechanical equipment or working conditions, such as one-way bearings in automobile clutches.

One-way bearing model selection guide

When selecting a one-way bearing model, the following aspects should be considered comprehensively:

1. Working speed and load: Select a one-way bearing with a suitable structure type and load capacity according to the actual application scenario.

2. Installation space and size restrictions: Select a one-way bearing of corresponding size according to the installation space of the mechanical equipment or system.

3. Working environment and lubrication conditions: Consider factors such as temperature, humidity, and corrosion, select a one-way bearing that is suitable for harsh environments, and pay attention to the lubrication method and lubricant selection.
