Self-aligning Ball Bearing
Self-aligning ball bearings have two structures: cylindrical bore and tapered bore. The cage is made of steel plate, synthetic resin, etc. Its characteristics are that the outer ring raceway is spherical, with automatic self-alignment, which can compensate for the errors caused by non-concentricity and shaft deflection, but the relative inclination of the inner and outer rings shall not exceed 3 degrees.
Self-aligning ball bearings are bearings with spherical balls installed between the inner ring with two raceways and the outer ring with a spherical raceway.

Advantage
The main features of self-aligning ball bearings include self-aligning, low friction, load capacity, speed limit, noise and vibration.
1. Self-aligning
The outer ring raceway surface of the self-aligning ball bearing is spherical, with the center of curvature consistent with the center of the bearing, and has self-aligning ability. This design allows the bearing to automatically adjust when the shaft or housing is deflected, ensuring good contact between the raceway and the rolling element. This self-aligning function is particularly suitable for occasions with shaft deflection or large installation errors.
2. Low friction and temperature rise
Compared with any other type of rolling bearing, the self-aligning ball bearing generates the lowest friction and low temperature rise even at high speeds. The clearance fit between the rolling element and the outer ring reduces friction and friction heat, thereby extending the service life of the bearing and maintenance intervals.
3. Load capacity
The self-aligning ball bearing mainly bears radial loads, and can also bear a small amount of axial loads. Due to the large contact area between the rolling element and the raceway, the self-aligning ball bearing has a high load capacity and good rigidity.
4. Limiting speed
Compared with deep groove ball bearings, the limiting speed of self-aligning ball bearings is lower, which is suitable for medium and low speed operation.
5. Noise and vibration
Due to the automatic self-aligning function, the self-aligning ball bearings generate less noise and vibration during operation, which is suitable for low noise and low vibration.
Application
Self-aligning ball bearings are widely used in occasions where errors caused by different concentricity and shaft deflection need to be compensated, such as papermaking machinery, semiconductor equipment, gear devices, etc. In the mesh, pressing and drying parts of papermaking machines, the shaft often bends, and the self-aligning ball bearings can automatically adjust to ensure the normal operation of the equipment.
