Material classification and advantages of ceramic bearings
Material classification and advantages of ceramic bearings
Ceramic bearing is a kind of bearing made of ceramic materials, usually used in high speed, high temperature, corrosion, radiation and other harsh environment mechanical parts. The following is a detailed introduction to the ceramic bearing:
1. Material classification
The rings and rolling bodies of ceramic bearings are made of all-ceramic materials, mainly zirconia (ZrO2), silicon nitride (Si3N4) and silicon carbide (SiC). The retainers are made of polytetrafluoroethylene, nylon 66, polyetherimine, zirconia, silicon nitride, stainless steel or special aviation aluminum.
2. Advantages
(1)Corrosion resistant: ceramic is almost not afraid of corrosion, so ceramic bearings are suitable for operation in harsh conditions full of corrosive media.
(2) Lightweight: The density of ceramic rolling balls is lower than that of steel, and the weight is lighter. When rotating, the centrifugal effect on the outer circle can be reduced by 40%, thus extending the service life.
(3) High temperature and low temperature resistance: the effect of ceramic heating expansion and cooling contraction is less than steel, so the bearing can be allowed to work in the environment with drastic temperature changes. At the same time, ceramic bearings can also be used in low temperature environment.
(4)High precision: the elastic modulus of ceramic is higher than that of steel, and it is not easy to deform under force, which is conducive to improving the working speed and achieving high precision.
(5)Oil-free self-lubrication: ceramic materials have oil-free self-lubrication properties, and the friction coefficient of ceramic balls is small.
(6)Electrical insulation and diamagnetism: ceramic bearings also have good electrical insulation and diamagnetism.
3.Type three
Ceramic bearings can be subdivided into two types: all-ceramic bearings and hybrid ceramic bearings (semi-ceramic bearings). Among them, hybrid ceramic bearings are generally assembled from ring made of bearing steel and silicon nitride rolling bodies at the bearing level, which have electric insulation characteristics.
To sum up, ceramic bearings occupy a place in the application of new materials with their unique performance and wide application fields.
